Use the technician app when there is no signal
How a technician works a whole visit offline in the AquaOps app: the day's jobs, checklist, photos, readings, parts and signature, then sync.
By the AquaOps team
The technician app keeps the day’s jobs on the phone, so the whole visit works with or without a signal. Android and iPhone apps are built; the Android beta can be downloaded from the download page, and a phone web version works in a modern browser. Sign in with your company account.
Start the day
Open My day. You see your jobs in order, with the address, notes and a button for maps. The app asks for location access: location is shared with the office while you work a job, and the company may also choose working hours for it.
Do the visit
- Move the job to On the way when you set off; the customer can see you coming if the office shared an arrival link.
- At the site, move it to On site. The app checks that you are at the site; it never blocks your work.
- Follow the checklist for the type of work and take photos.
- Record readings. Each one shows its band (excellent, good, fair, poor) against your company’s limits.
- Add the parts used. They come off your van’s stock.
- Collect the customer’s signature (or type the name) when the job asks for it.
- Submit the job for approval or complete it, as the workflow requires.
Sync
Everything above is stored on the phone. When the phone finds a connection it sends each change once. If something cannot be applied (the job was cancelled, for example) the app tells you why. A small indicator shows what is waiting to send.
Tips
- Open the day’s jobs once while you still have signal.
- Keep the app up to date. A forced update screen tells you if your version is too old.
- Notifications about today’s visits arrive as push notifications on Android.

Questions and answers
- What if the office changes the job while I am offline?
- When the phone syncs, each change is checked against the job as it is now. If a change can no longer be applied, the app says why in plain words and nothing newer is overwritten.
