Water treatment software in Nigeria: what to look for
A buyer's checklist for water treatment software in Nigeria: offline use, naira payments, VAT, contracts, stock, customer access and data.
By the AquaOps team
If you run a water treatment company in Nigeria, the software you choose has to fit the way work really happens here: sites with poor signal, customers who pay by bank transfer or card, a mix of small and large clients, and teams that grow quickly. This guide is a checklist you can use whatever product you evaluate. AquaOps is water treatment management software built first for Nigeria, and we say where it fits and where to ask us.
1. It must work where your technicians work
Plant rooms are in basements, estates have thick walls and boreholes are far from a mast. Ask to see a full visit done with the phone in airplane mode: opening the job, following the checklist, taking photos, recording readings and parts, and collecting a signature. Then ask what happens when the office changed the job while the technician was offline. Our offline field service guide lists the questions to ask.
2. Money in naira, with the records to match
Look for invoices and quotes in naira with your own VAT settings, deposits, part payments and receipts. Amounts should be exact to the kobo. Check how customers can pay: card, bank transfer, and a payment page that ties each payment to one invoice. In AquaOps, customers pay from the invoice link or the portal through Paystack, and staff can record cash, transfer, POS and cheque payments. We do not give tax advice: ask your accountant how VAT applies to you. See invoicing and online payments.
3. Recurring work should book itself
Most income in water treatment is repeat service. Look for maintenance plans per system that book the next visit before it is due and remind the customer. See maintenance plans.
4. Stock on the van, not just in the store
Filters, cartridges, salt and chemicals run out at the wrong moment. Look for stock by place (store and each van), parts recorded on the job, and low-stock alerts. Costs should be visible only to the people who need them. See inventory and parts.
5. Customers should be able to help themselves
A customer portal that shows visits, service reports, invoices and tickets cuts phone calls. An arrival link that shows the technician coming cuts the most common call of all: “where is the technician?” See the customer portal and live tracking.
6. Your words, your workflow
Statuses, service types, checklists, roles and reading limits differ by company. Software that forces one way of working will be fought by your team. In AquaOps these are company settings.
7. Roles, privacy and records
Technicians should see their own jobs; finance should see money; owners should see everything. Ask for an activity log, two-step sign-in and how company data is kept apart. See Security and data. We do not make legal compliance claims on this website; if you must satisfy a specific rule, ask us for details and check with your adviser.
8. Bringing your data in
You already have clients in a spreadsheet. Look for a spreadsheet import that checks every row first and never emails your customers by accident. AquaOps imports clients, sites and systems from CSV files and shows the problems before anything is created.
9. Honesty about what exists
Ask what is live today, what is in testing and what is planned. For example, AquaOps technician apps for Android and iPhone are built; the Android beta can be downloaded now and the iPhone app is coming. Device monitoring for sensors and meters is in early access. The capabilities page states this plainly.

| Is stock tracked per van? | Fewer wasted trips |
| Can customers see visits and pay? | Fewer phone calls |

Questions and answers
- What should water treatment software in Nigeria do?
- It should run jobs and scheduled maintenance, keep working at sites with no signal, handle naira invoices and VAT, take online payments, track stock on vans, and give customers a way to see visits and pay. AquaOps is water treatment management software built for these needs.
- Does water treatment software need to work offline in Nigeria?
- Yes, if your technicians visit plant rooms, estates or boreholes with poor mobile data. An offline-first app keeps the whole visit on the phone and syncs when a connection returns.
- Can I take payments in naira?
- AquaOps customers can pay invoices by card or bank transfer in naira through Paystack, and staff can still record cash, transfer, POS and cheque payments.
