A guide for water treatment operators in Lagos: coastal groundwater, estates and high-rise buildings, power, access and maintenance planning.

Lagos is the largest city in Nigeria and the market where many water treatment companies work first. This is a general guide to the conditions; it is not regulatory advice, and conditions differ by neighbourhood.

## The water

Lagos is a **coastal city with a high water table**. Many estates, offices, hotels and factories use boreholes, and in some areas groundwater is reported to carry salt (especially near the lagoon and coast) as well as iron and sediment. That is why RO and softening are common, and why testing the source before you design treatment is essential. Test again from time to time, because a source can change. See the [RO plant](https://aquasops.com/industries/ro-plants) and [water softener](https://aquasops.com/industries/water-softeners) pages.

## The buildings

Work is spread across estates, high-rise buildings, hotels, schools, hospitals and factories. Plant rooms are often in basements with no signal, and access rules at estates and towers can be strict. Book visits ahead, tell the customer and their security, and use an [offline-first technician app](https://aquasops.com/features/technician-app). Traffic can eat the day, so group visits by area and use [arrival links](https://aquasops.com/features/live-tracking) so customers are not left guessing.

## Power

Generators and inverters are common. Record the power source at each visit and check protection against dry running and surges.

## Humidity and rain

Heavy rain and humidity speed up corrosion on fittings and electrics. Look for leaks and corrosion on each routine visit, and keep tanks covered and vents screened.

## Planning your year

Use [maintenance plans](https://aquasops.com/features/maintenance-plans) per system: a routine check each month or quarter, pre-filter changes by pressure drop, membranes on evidence, and a yearly full service. Our [RO maintenance schedule](https://aquasops.com/guides/ro-maintenance-schedule) gives a starting table.

## Getting paid

Most customers pay by transfer or card. Send the invoice the same day with a payment link, and record cash and POS payments too. See [invoicing and online payments](https://aquasops.com/features/invoicing-and-online-payments).

## Software

[AquaOps](https://aquasops.com/) is built first for Nigeria. [Book a demo](https://aquasops.com/contact) to see it with your own Lagos routes and clients.

## Questions and answers

Why do Lagos plants need extra attention?

Lagos is coastal with a high water table, so borehole water can carry salinity and iron in some areas, and humidity and heavy rain are hard on equipment. Test the source before choosing treatment and check it again over time.
